STREET FASHION INSPIRED STYLE: THE TEDDY BOYS

THE TEDDY BOY

Why I am choosing this subject ? Well not only their style are still eternal but their look remains pure and high standard, daring and classy looking. It's a trend that I would see myself in.

The Teddy Boys also known as the Teds, have become more popular in the 1950's in Great Britain,
Their fashion sens are commonly described as fancy, edgy, Edwardian, classy, smart suited look and also tailoring style. Also known to revolutionize their own image.

They wore fancy waistcoats, large blazers sometimes, fitted suited trousers or narrow pants = "drainpipes", white shirts and polished shoes.

Their story behind it? Briefly the Teds were seen as gangs or juvenile delinquency . They were very free spirit even though their clothes were showing other wise , but also open minded . Also labelled as trouble makers.

The Teddy' were vandalizing stores and cinemas to show their rage against austerity mesures from society after the World War II.
The teen boys and men revolutionize their look who pretty much became close to the 1960's trendwith the Rock'n'roll era. The hair style was inspired from Rock'n'roll icons, such as Elvis Presley or Johnny Cash

THE HAIR WAS GREASY IN MORE AN UP DO LOOK STYLE ON TOP OF THE HEAD

Not to forget that music and fashion couldn't be separated from one another. After a preview of the history let's move on to the nowadays part.

Stylist are still reinforcing this look in photo shoots or runaway shows that still has an impact in our today's society,

Up until this day Teddy's boys look has an impact on us. Some Designers are still inspired by it such as Dior for example. In the world where we live in today, old fashion remain still alive for us!

CHIP CHOP Cropped Tops

Cropped tops?

Two months no posts I keep lacking sorry about my absence I am working on different projects and I am possibly looking to revamp my fashion blog if you guys have any ideas please do let me know!

As for my next subject ...CROPPED TOPS are up next.
Well it's June, it's summer and it's all about them.
Going for a comfortable vibe, laidback and sexy.

Shows a great figure to the body and frankly who wouldn't want to look that feminine?!

With more upcoming summer festivals, the season requires us to grab one and put it on with some pants, skirts or shorts (as shown on the picture above)

Versatile piece that can be associated with pretty much everything.

Let's not forget summer is short and so our cropped tops, make this season memorable!

A "kitsch look" what does it mean?

The word "kitsch" is actually a german word, which represent a form of art mostly "tasteless", as often described. Most of the people use massive objects and make them look "cheap".

This term started in Munich between the 1860's-1870's. As you can observe "kitsch" in English would be translated as "sketch" (for example: paintings). It's an idea that represent something.

What I am trying to explain is that a "kitsch look" would be a form of art, that looks mostly messy but fancy at the same time. Like an unfinished product that still have that beautiful look.

Enough about the writings more about the explanation through the pictures

[google image]

This look goes more for a "catch eye" look. It's all about bright colors, mix colors and crazy looks. Some can be extreme some discrete (rare). How can you not perceive when someone dresses up like this?!

 [Karmin]

One nation known for that type of style are the Japanese. Traveling there and seeing their audacity being put into fashion gave me chills. And I admire them for that.

[magazine Vogue Japan fall / winter 2012-2013]

Kitsch can be extravaganza. You will see all kind of fantasy prints. It's all about putting your creativity into it and not care what other people think.

Madonna would be a great example for it. She made a strong impact in the 90's as well, where you would see women in pink fluo leggings with yellow neon t-shirts. Let's not forget it's still in vogue as of right now. Proof?

Well with this new artist Rita Ora who is the perfect example.

I am done here with the history. Guys remember you don't want this season, meaning fall to be boring, make yourself shine from the rest of the crowd.

Word of the day: Peplum

The word that I am bringing up today is:

PEPLUM
=
A PEPLUM IS A BAND OF FABRIC AT THE HEM OF DRESSES, BLOUSES OR JACKETS;  THE BOTTOM PART CAN BE RUFFLED OR PLEATED TO CREATE A FLARE.

I have recently learned this term at my job. I didn't even know how to describe it in french. It is indeed a new vocabulary. The peplum are more a 50's inspiration. Coming up for this season so ladies be prepared to be dressed with a good peplum outfit wether it's a shirt, skirt or a dress.

Definition of the day

Bonjour everybody. Knowing that winter reappeard on the surface again, photoshoots sessions have been reduced. I decided to get more focused on definitions. I find it so important to know how to describe any piece of clothes that we wear. YES we love fashion BUT is it useful the fact that we should know how to describe them? For sure yes. LOVING fashion is one thing KNOWING fashion is another thing.

I will often post definitions for you to get more familiar aswell for myself.
Ready... , get set..., learn!

Ok so the word of the day is...

DOLMAN SLEEVE
=
"A DOLMAN SLEEVE IS WIDE AT THE SHOULDER AND NARROW AT THE WRIST OR BOTTOM ARMS"

Like I always say I need to vary my fashion sections for my blog it's more fun!
