Photographer du Jour

PHOTOGRAPHER: CARA

On today's post one of the most talented fashion photographer to look out for!
Fall is not only about blog posts on fashion trends but also to discover the world's given artists such as
fashion designers, stylists, models, fashion bloggers and of course fashion photographers!

Starting with Cara coming straight from Seattle.

THE PHOTOGRAPHER HERSELF

Without making you guys wait longer here is the interview

Hello how are you doing ? So where are you from and  how did you start all of this?

Hi! I'm originally from Seattle but grew up in Phoenix Arizona. I took photography classes in high school and fell in love with it but never fully pursued it until about a year ago. I moved to LA to model when I was 18 and quit by the time I was 21, couch surfed for a while in search of what was next and landed on photography.

Did you take any degree to become what you are today ?

I didn't, never went to college. I may someday, for now my education comes from life and the people I surround myself with.

As a fashion photographer how do you get inspired?
So many things... People absolutely, I can't tell you how many times I'll pull the creepy photographer line "I'd love to shoot you" to strangers. But I think the fact that I'm a woman and not a sleezy dude tends to work in my favor.

Who are your icons in terms of photographers and why?
I think Harper Smith is fantastic. Ben Cope. Jessica Yatrofsky is incredible. All three of them have such different styles but they are so spot on with everything they produce, so inspiring.

Are you mainly focused into fashion or other types such as portrait, buildings, kids ?
I love fashion photography but I do feel drawn to shoot more contemporary art "real people" not to say models aren't real. I just like the look of every day people, comfortable in their own skin and add an element of surprise. I'd like to shoot something that makes people think, not just a beautiful face.

Where do you mainly work and do take photos at different destinations? Do you have your own studio?
I mainly shoot outside, in and around the LA area. I love the freedom of choosing my own natural backdrop.

Any upcoming projects ?

I have a few things in the works. Veering in a more contemporary direction, less focus on the face. I'll also be doing a lot of traveling in the near future and am looking forward to shooting along the way. :)

As a professional photographer do you find it harder to find a clientele now that instagram is using tons of editing tools ? Does it make harder to find people ?

Not necessarily, I think it's kind of cool really. you never know who will see your work with the accessibility of social media and I think the outreach is tremendous.

Any tips to anyone who would like to follow your path?
What would be your best advice ?
As someone who is really in the process myself and learning more all the time, I'll say something that a good friend and brilliant Photographer Scott Toepfer told me a while ago:
"Just keep shooting, nothing bad can come from you doing what you love and constantly putting your work out there." I think about that all the time.

Her long dedication and passion drove her to where she is right now.

Fall Trend with Michael Kors runaway looks 2013

And so Fashion week it is for fall

It's all over the news, websites, tv, pictures and word to mouth, Michael Kors is everywhere !
Clothes going more for bright vivid colors that still shine through those cloudy days.

A beautiful electric blue having a great impact on the stage made those models stand out great.
This is my favorite color of all times since always and let me tell you guys: Blue will NEVER disapoint you! Wether it's a skirt, dress or a jacket, blending it with a basic black color, is a perfect much to make this shade appearing under the lights of the fashion show.

Military prints never fails, so unisex and within those last few years still in the trend business. Paired up with a a black ornament such as the black belt to give this woman a meaning to her body, by giving her a great shape is exaclty what's needed. On top of it those shoes and leather bag that accessorize the whole look make it more outstanding! It' simply a combo of a classy & street look.

A bedazzled dress that caught my eyes right on the spot, it's an "all eyes on her type of thing" look. A black gown attached to it makes it more creative , Don't you think?

The Runaway inspirational look to celebrities such as
Kerry Washington

Attending those runaways fall shows makes me want to go to the one in New York Next year so hopefully!

Wishing you all a great fall dressing up season !

Underground ballerina

Being creative at all angles , is absolutely needed in the fashion or even in the art world. So going through some discovery channels on tv , I decided to go visit that place and take pictures there and the turns out were better than I expected ...

This amazing dancer felt inspired from this place and went naturally for her moves.

Mainly wearing a turquoise tutu, an old pair of ballerina, with a cream fitted top and to make it more original and edgy leather jacket on top of it. To simply combine the smooth scene of ballet and the underground grooves.

This was my last shoot for summer 2013.

Much love

The Brightness coming from California

Going to the Old port in the pure of Montreal was such a joy and an amazing experience to view the festivities from the city. This woman happen to pass by and directly caught my attention.

The contrast between the mint and black is a to do list for summer

regardless her style she just had this simple and pure soul.
edgy looking with her contrast of personnality that gave a good mix.

On that note. Happy Tuesday everyone!

The Chic Styler

More shoots and more shoots who doesn t like one of those!

And who happened to say yes to a photoshoot session my dearest friend Phil.
As walking down the streets of Montreal this mysterious place just seemed to be the perfect fit.

The view gives this European sceneray which is totally fantastic.
A Parisian reading a book and enjoying this warm weather, makes everybody want to travel to France.

This restaurant : La Mauvaise Reputation is definitely a place to go to and the food is to die for
This shoot was a great timing at a great place

S for street or skaters?

Hey guys,

As walking down the streets of Montreal , from afar I saw those trendy people skateboarding and their personality just caught my attention. So I told myself might as well jump right into the scene and have a mini shoot with them. Very laid back and easygoing they all agreed too. Here are the photos from that night.
Not to forget that one of the girl is a fashion designer. Please if you do see that post feel free to post your work just saying!

Beside that wishing you all a great long weekend!

CHIP CHOP Cropped Tops

Cropped tops?

Two months no posts I keep lacking sorry about my absence I am working on different projects and I am possibly looking to revamp my fashion blog if you guys have any ideas please do let me know!

As for my next subject ...CROPPED TOPS are up next.
Well it's June, it's summer and it's all about them.
Going for a comfortable vibe, laidback and sexy.

Shows a great figure to the body and frankly who wouldn't want to look that feminine?!

With more upcoming summer festivals, the season requires us to grab one and put it on with some pants, skirts or shorts (as shown on the picture above)

Versatile piece that can be associated with pretty much everything.

Let's not forget summer is short and so our cropped tops, make this season memorable!
