Coachella Influence

It's all about Coachella!

Coachella is mainly about music but let's not forget that fashion is also part of the topic.
When pictures comes up, it shows how people dresses up, going more for a hippie / vintage vibe.

On the menu:

-cowboy boots
- fedora hats
-shorts
- maxi dresses / skirts
-braided headbands
-chunky bracelets and necklaces
- sunglasses of all sorts

Coachella always goes big when it comes to dressing up.
Looking forward to go next year...

Into the bold prints

GOING BOLD?

As the 19th century approached, Paul Poiret gave fashion a new dimension with the bold prints and bright oriental colors. Way back then some of the prints were worn during the World War II with bright colors and multiple patterns through the 1950's.

As the fashion designer said once: "My prints are ornamental designs worked  in continuous motion; how ever there are placed there is rythm".

Later in the 1960's, the young generation adopted this kind of look. You could see loud floral and colored stripes and other sorts of prints.

Let's not forget by the end of the decade the hippie movement had a huge impact into this kind of dressing code. Going from graphic patterns and tie-dye. Christian Lacroix immersed in it. A lot of fashion designers has been influenced by runaways shows but most all in the streets.

Spring is ideal for this type dressing so go for it!

Back to street / urban photography spring 2013

It is a beautiful Sunday, spring is here and so are the upcoming photos. I haven't taken street photos since last summer for many reasons :

- to manipulate more my camera
- invest in new lenses
- learning different body languages
- read more photography theory (techniques)

As of today, after several months I do have an urban look street photo session today. Photos will be posted soon on the blog.

Black and white prints

BLACK AND WHITE OR WHITE AND BLACK?

Good morning all of you. First of all I want to wish you all a great Spring. One of my favorite season of the year.

You just have this nice weather, you feel the warm breeze and see more colors coming along the way how can you say no to that?

For example the way India celebrate it is through colors by throwing themselves bright  powder shades. It is called Holi by welcoming this new time of the year.

In this case, the mix of black and white prints seen in so many stores are found pretty much everywhere.
Easy access , not hard to find and suits all ages and never gets out of style.

(google)

Always gives that classy and elegant look. Many fashion designers are going for it, among them,
Marc Jacob and more.

Haven't hibernate enough this whole winter? We sure have time to do some cleaning in the closet.
Find the right style that will suit, your personality and your look and make it happen!

The new "black"

Ok so fall is here and when you think about autumn, what colours pop into your mind?
...
Yes warm tones, such as brown, beige, orange, yellow & red. But there is one that shines the most this year:

BURGUNDY

Yes indeed you probably may have seen it on clothes and accessories. ZARA (clothing store) for example carry a large amount of maroon shades as well as other stores such as Urban Planet, H&M and Club Monaco.

The cerise looking tones is more unisex. Women but also men tend to wear clothes that is blood coloured.

So it is really a good fit for both genders.

Using neutral tones will make this vintage wine look stand out more. You don't want to much diversion as it is enough itself.

In november we need to go to darker, warmer shades as it is getting more cold.

Here is how to make your own clutch: DIY Fashion, Neon Lace Clutch, Fab Flash

C'est tres "lady-chic"

Yes I am going to talk about accessories today.
What is the best way to dress up elegant and classy just to add up a little something, something to your outfit?

It 's the CLUTCH

These sophisticated pieces have been a lady's best friend over the decade. It's mainly small enough to carry your needs if you plan to attend any night life events. The origin comes from the Victorian era. It helped women to simplify their lives by only carrying what's only needed (make-up, tissues, compact mirror...)

Ornated clutch where you can insert your fingers. Very trendy and useful this year. Can be found at "Town Shoes" or on the shopping website "ASOS"

Some of us like to play it match-matchy by associating the same fabric with the clothes or choosing another material such as:

-silk
-satin
-brocade
-cotton

Nowdays, using cellphones, wallet and other utilities require much more space. Yet we are still going for clutches when it comes to night outs. It's simple, discrete and can be glamorous at times.

You will mostly see these garnements without shoulder stripes (an option). It is seen on red carpets, galas, fashion shows, royalty events and proms.

After all, don't you all want to feel like a Princess?! I know I do!

Skulls for fashion

October has arrived and what can I say, the best season to be dressed is obviously fall. This month is perfect for trench coats, combats boots, leather jackets, ankle boots, leggings, scarves. But there is
this one trend who still has a huge impact in the fashion industry which is...

SKULLS!

Sweater with spikes and skulls print
[google images]

The young generation are attracted by this type of prints, that have been seen in the streets, fashion shows, accessories such as shoes and scarves but mainly clothes.

Steve Madden 's collection > shoes
[tumblr image]

In the early 90's skulls didn't have as much impact as now.
As of today we have a different vision of it and more people tend to follow this "new trend"

Some of these accessories will give you this ''edgy punk look''.
Well why not accentuate your style don't dress up too... how should I say that...
BORING.

The Minnie Mouse icon

This season, the press is mentioning it, talking about it, it's all over. I am talking about the "Minnie Mouse wanna be".

This is an homage to the world wide known icon. Many designers stepped up by creating different pieces related to the Disney face.

Here is a list of the designers:

-Giles
-Michael Van der Ham
-Richard Nicole
-Piers Akinson
-Bunney
-Husam El Odeh

in collaboration with

-Luke Hersheson
-Katie Hillier
-Lulu Guinesss
-Tatty Devine
-Terry de Havilland

Minnie was born in the 1920's precisely 1928. Her look inspired many of us. Her bow, her polka dots and graphic colors is found everywhere and for all ages (hair style included!)

There was a fashion show in London called :
"The Minnie Mouse must-haves". The purpose of that show was to collect the money for a program named Bazaar fashion art foundation.

Gerlan Jeans New York fashion week Spring/Summer 2013

I, myself own a Minnie mouse sweater and I feel like all my childhood memories are coming back!
I've always been a Minnie Mouse fan and will always be!
